I’ve been really blessed to have work with different people in a short span of my career as a photographer. And it’s a wake up call for me to always put my best in whatsoever i do in life and career wise.
Personally i have not done so well in terms of promoting my business, but on the other hand my work has done most of the publicity and promotes itself. Most of my clients has been through referral or expecially people who had seen my work.
Same thing goes to this beautiful couple Funke & Ayo. I recieved a call from Funke letting me know that i would be the photographer to cover her wedding day. she further explained that she was one of the bride’s maid of another wedding i did a year ago, and after she saw the wedding pictures she decided to use my services. Honestly i was really greatful to have heard such a comment….. and it really made my day. so i scheduled a consultation to meet.
On our appointment day, she was on time and i remembered that i had seen her before. Honestly she came prepared, single handedly picked what package she liked… and boom.. the deal was sealed rightaway, such a stressless consultation. And it’s so intriguing when you meet with a client who knows what they really wanted and willing to pay without any doubt.
Our next meeting was so interesting which would be the first time i met with Ayo, both of them came for the engagement shoot. Evidently you could tell that they are in love and they both love to smile, besides Ayo ’s such a funny character with great sense of humor… The shoot went smoothly, did some studio shoot and went out for some location shoot too, infact it was a lovely day out.
On the wedding day, it was easy for me because the hotel location where the couple and the wedding train lodged was just 5 minutes away from the ceremony site, and 25 minutes to the reception. The day started as planned, the ceremony was on point except for the rain that prevented us from doing location shoot.
After the formal shoot was done inside the ceremony site, i decided to use the rain to my advantage, i got into my car & headed for the reception site in other to be there earlier before the couple & their train. Low and behold on getting to 495 beltway, there was backed up traffic to the point that cars barely moved. since i was already in the traffic, i thought of other option, so i decided to use alternate way to get to my destination. honestly it’s very important to know your way around in case of a situation like this. i followed my instinct, exit off the beltway at the next exit and took the local routes that i knew quite well. luckily i got to the reception at the appropriate time and was able to settle down & wait for atleast about 45 minutes -1hour before the arrival of the couple.
However, rain and traffic were intense that day, yet the wedding was beautiful and glamorous, what a lovely and happy moment for the newly wed couple. I had a great time shooting ….. and thru that i met couple of prospective new clients which i will be honored to cover their wedding too.
