WELCOME TO MY BLOG

Thanks for checking out my blog.

My name is Joseph Alawode a professional photographer based in Maryland. I got involved in photography few years ago and out of my passion for this art, I established a business named Dynamic Flair.

You might be wondering why didn't I use my name for the business... You probably right! but the truth is that i have a different perspective in mind... something unique and way beyond using my personal name.

This blog represent an orbit of my photography/business journal as i document my experiences as a photographer which i intend to share with the world.

I will be posting important information about Dynamic Flair and post images from my recent assignments and my archives from time to time.

So if you come across this name Dynamic Flair, just remember to return and check the new post in my blog.

Thanks

David’s 1st Shoot

My little baby David is now 5 months old. I honestly thought i was done making babies…. 3/half years ago because my daughter is 5yrs and my other son is 4 yrs old. Since i had the first 2 kids back to back, it was such a relief that i didn’t have to deal with midnight curfew of waking up to care for a baby. I guess my calculation was totally wrong.

You know how things do happen when you are least expected, it just happen…..

Besides i think it has alot to do with the massive snow that we had in December 2009/ January 2010 whereby everyone was snowed in for almost 1 week or 2.

Anyway i got to do my son’s first shoot, it was really fun and he was loving it too until he gets really cranky, cried a little bit and slept off. And while sleeping, i managed to take quick shots of him….. but woke up 20 minutes later, then continued to finish the shoot.

Now officially done making babies, God has blessed me with 3 lovely kids, and i am so greatful. Here are some of the images of his 1st shoot..

Aba - I had no clue baby no. 2 was here already, congrats, longest time.March 28, 2011 - 9:06 am

Sheri + Toyosi

This happen to be the last wedding that i shot for this year 2010. Interestingly, i have known the couple for some time when they were still single, very nice people, and they both definitely will charm you with their smile….

when the bride approached me that i was going to be their wedding photographer and that she never bordered to look around for any other photographer because she made up her mind long time ago, i felt so honored because when i hear statement like that it creates bubbly feelings within my spirit. For a moment i paused to appreciate what i do with a sense of joy & pride .

Booking was easy, and at a later date, we did their engagement shoot, and the traditional engagement wedding which i will be posting soon on my blog. it was such a wonderful experience working with these lovely couple. They made the shoot very easy for me and we were done early enough for me to meet my other scheduled appointment to co-shoot at a wedding same day.

To summarize this event, their wedding day was fabulous, everything started early as planned, from the preparation to ceremony and reception were done in timely manner. These are couple that are very keen on punctuality. The reception was in Baltimore MD, very nice location, the decoration was really lovely and i think their color choice was spectacular. Honestly i had fun shooting and my friend Chris was there to co-shoot with me. Indeed it was a lovely wedding and i love every minutes that i spent shooting on that day.

Here are some of the wedding pictures, hope you enjoy viewing. Besides don’t forget to bookmark my blog so as to come back and check more work that i will be blogging soon.

Thanks.

    YINKA + AKIN

This amazing couple called me up sometime last year and booked a date for their wedding. After the initial consultation, everything was finalized with 2 days event booked both Thursday and Saturday. The first day was for the Traditional Engagement, and the 2nd day was for wedding itself. I drove down to Delaware early enough to get ready for the day. Honestly it was such a great occasion, and on the wedding day, my goodness…… i had fun shooting, weather was favorable, and we went to boardwalk and get some shots done. i enjoy every minutes of it….

    ABIGAIL + THOMAS

Interestingly, i met the bride from one of my previous wedding coverage about two years ago. She called me up on this faithful afternoon that she would love that i shoot her upcoming wedding. Not to bore you with details, she booked her date and contract was signed.

On the wedding day, i drove down to Virginia early enough be get my day started. Low and behold, after the early preparation shoot, on our way to the church, the unfortunate happened…… that was the first time i ever tried to follow the wedding crew Limousine that carried the parents and the wedding train. As we were driving to the church, i tried to maintain a close distance with the limousine so that i do not get left behind…….. Along the way the limo driver made a left turn and i followed. Guess what happened …… in a blink of an eye, out of the blue, a police officer came from behind and pulled the limo driver over to the side first then waved me down to pulled over too. you could imagine what was going through my mind at that time…. my heart was pumping really fast…. As the cop approached me and asked for my license, he said something that i found really funny….. when he asked the limo driver why he made that left turn, the guy told him that the GPS direction was what he followed, then the cop said to him that if the GPS directs you to drive off the clift, would you have done it.

Infact i was really worried a bit, but hopeful that atleast the service can’t start without the wedding crew. After about 25 minutes delay, this officer was so mean …i mean no warning no mercy, gave us traffic violation tickets and bid us good luck. I learnt my lesson in a hard way…… ” i should have, would have, could have” followed my instinct, that would have been avoided. Thank goodness, we got to the church just on time to start the ceremony.

It was such a lovely wedding, the reception was the highlight of that day and i had fun shooting. Honestly these people can really party and have fun with it. I’ve always thought only Nigerians knows how to party, but i was wrong….. the Ghanaians can really boogy down and rock it too.

    DAYO & DUPE

I flew to Atlanta GA, for a wedding gig… This new couple Dayo & Dupe are such a wonderful people. Beautiful & charming…. they both complement each other. Honestly I had a ball throughout my stay.

I lodged @ Hyatt regency Hotel on Peachtree street downtown where i met with couple of friends, Kim Trice, charlton video-grapher for the wedding.. One other thing i love about Atlanta is that the city is so lively & people are so friendly and I look forward to going back to ATL….

Guess what, Indeed the wedding day of Dayo & Dupe was… unnnmmhuuummm… GRANDEUR…. I was busy all day from the start till the end. To sums it all… it was splendid….. I wish you were there too.

    Mike & Osasu

I met this wonderful couple at another wedding i covered in Maryland, we spoke briefly and exchanged information. After they checked my work online, i recieved a call from them as both expressed their satisfaction about my work. they came to the studio for consultation, checked packages and booked their wedding date.

Mike and Osasu’s wedding was in Pittsburg Pensilvania. I waived my option either to drive or fly over to pittsburg. In a nutshel, i drove down from home base in Maryland to Pittsburg on friday morning. Infact it was really lovely, such an awesome trip except that weather was really bad when i was going… i mean… heavy rain.. yet i got to pittsburg in about 5 hours… … Not bad at all…

Along the way i saw beatiful sights, mountains, valleys, and jaw dropping landscapes. First instinct that came to mind was to stop and take pictures, but rain prevented me from doing so.

On the wedding day, the couple lodged at the Hyatt Regency Hotel by the Airport which is the same location for the Reception but the Ceremony was at a cathedral church in downtown Pittsburg which is about 20 minutes drive…. still within a reasonable distance.

Honestly i had a ball shooting this wedding… On sunday next day after the wedding, i drove around town in pittsburg, checked out couple of shopping Mall, before finally returned back to Maryland.

    FUNKE & AYO

I’ve been really blessed to have work with different people in a short span of my career as a photographer. And it’s a wake up call for me to always put my best in whatsoever i do in life and career wise.

Personally i have not done so well in terms of promoting my business, but on the other hand my work has done most of the publicity and promotes itself. Most of my clients has been through referral or expecially people who had seen my work.

Same thing goes to this beautiful couple Funke & Ayo. I recieved a call from Funke letting me know that i would be the photographer to cover her wedding day. she further explained that she was one of the bride’s maid of another wedding i did a year ago, and after she saw the wedding pictures she decided to use my services. Honestly i was really greatful to have heard such a comment….. and it really made my day. so i scheduled a consultation to meet.

On our appointment day, she was on time and i remembered that i had seen her before. Honestly she came prepared, single handedly picked what package she liked… and boom.. the deal was sealed rightaway, such a stressless consultation. And it’s so intriguing when you meet with a client who knows what they really wanted and willing to pay without any doubt.

Our next meeting was so interesting which would be the first time i met with Ayo, both of them came for the engagement shoot. Evidently you could tell that they are in love and they both love to smile, besides Ayo ‘s such a funny character with great sense of humor… The shoot went smoothly, did some studio shoot and went out for some location shoot too, infact it was a lovely day out.

On the wedding day, it was easy for me because the hotel location where the couple and the wedding train lodged was just 5 minutes away from the ceremony site, and 25 minutes to the reception. The day started as planned, the ceremony was on point except for the rain that prevented us from doing location shoot.

After the formal shoot was done inside the ceremony site, i decided to use the rain to my advantage, i got into my car & headed for the reception site in other to be there earlier before the couple & their train. Low and behold on getting to 495 beltway, there was backed up traffic to the point that cars barely moved. since i was already in the traffic, i thought of other option, so i decided to use alternate way to get to my destination. honestly it’s very important to know your way around in case of a situation like this. i followed my instinct, exit off the beltway at the next exit and took the local routes that i knew quite well. luckily i got to the reception at the appropriate time and was able to settle down & wait for atleast about 45 minutes -1hour before the arrival of the couple.

However, rain and traffic were intense that day, yet the wedding was beautiful and glamorous, what a lovely and happy moment for the newly wed couple. I had a great time shooting ….. and thru that i met couple of prospective new clients which i will be honored to cover their wedding too.

    Afolabi - Nice work. The last shot is priceless!January 14, 2010 - 10:07 pm

    BOBBY – Model
